Non Reception Pansat 2700A Nimiq 1 Nimiq 2
I have a Pansat 27700A with the following System Information: X-87BL, API: 75-2.13_EUbX, Boot Ver: 75, 12 Sep 2007.
I set up two dishes pointing at Nimiq 1 and Nimiq 2. Each picks up many transponders and channels, but they all come blank with "Wait for Picture" forever. I have noticed that many of the transponders respond with SR(msps) 19.999. I have checked on Lyngsat and I can find no TP's listed with SR 19.999. I have another dual LNB dish pointed at Echo 110/119. All these TP's come in with SR 20.000 which matches Lyngsat. However, many of the TP's do not match Lyngsat. Further, when I select ant Nimiq channel (which comes in black screen) and then return to a DN channel, the DN channel will also be black screen. I can then go to the DN key screen, verify that the key is current and good, and select to save changes (even though I made no changes) and get DN channels back again. I have looked through the menus and I notice that under Parental Control, CAS System there is no listing for the BEV keys. I recognize that this may be part of the problem. If so, exactly where do I enter the keys and what is the key heading data? I have the BEV keys, but no place to enter them. Here is a list of the TP's I receive from the Nimiq satellites: Nimiq 1: DFreq Pol SR 12236 H 19.999 12265 H 19.999 12294 H 19.999 12323 H 19.999 12352 H 19.999 12381 H 19.999 12410 H 19.999 12439 H 19.999 12468 H 19.999 12498 H 19.999 12527 H 19.999 12557 H 19.999 12586 H 19.999 12615 H 19.999 12644 H 19.999 12673 H 19.999 12222 V 19.999 12251 V 20.000 12279 V 19.999 12308 V 19.999 12338 V 19.999 12367 V 19.999 12396 V 19.999 12425 V 19.999 12455 V 19.999 12484 V 19.999 12513 V 19.999 12542 V 19.999 12571 V 19.999 12601 V 19.999 12630 V 19.999 12659 V 19.999 Nimiq 2: DFreq Pol SR 12239 H 19.999 12268 H 19.999 12298 H 19.999 12327 H 19.999 12356 H 19.999 12385 H 19.999 12414 H 19.999 12443 H 19.999 12472 H 19.999 12501 H 19.999 12530 H 19.999 12559 H 19.999 12588 H 19.999 12618 H 19.999 12648 H 19.999 12677 H 19.999 12224 V 19.999 12253 V 19.999 12283 V 20.000 12312 V 20.000 12340 V 20.000 12370 V 19.999 12399 V 19.999 12457 V 19.999 12486 V 19.999 12575 V 20.000 12603 V 19.999 12632 V 19.999 12662 V 19.999 I am looking forward to anyone who has any idea concerning why I am unable to receive channels from the Nimiq satellites. thanx, ken |

First things first. Sighting in Nimiq 1 and Nimiq 2 on a Pansat 2700A is not an easy task, as you could have quality on Nimiq 1 in the antenna setup screen and the dish could be pointed at say Echo 8,10. The Pansat is an "older" tinkerers box, and doesn't really tell you which satellite you are pointed at. So, for now, we shall tinker a bit.
Write down your settings for the dish 500 (Echo 7 and Echo 8 settings) and remember how it was hooked up, Next, do a factory reset. A factory reset deletes all channels and Antenna Settings. Hook up one of the newly aimed dishes direct from LNB to back of the receiver, bypassing all other dishes, just one at a time to figure out where this dish is pointed. Same settings for Nimiq 1 and Nimiq 2 LNB Type: Standard LNB Freq: 11250 DiSEqC: Off (direct line) TP: 12224 The meter will simply give you quality, and you will only be able to determine which satellite this dish is pointed to by assigning (setting up) a satellite just to the one dish and scanning it. If you see Vu channels during the scan, you have a Nimiq satellite. Like, for instance, setup Echo 8,10 to the first new dish, and see if it scans and works after autoroll. If it is pointed to Echo 8, then you will know the dish needs to get pointed 19 degrees more towards the east, and about 4 elevation points higher to get it sighted at Nimiq 1. Check the picture attachment on this reference: http://www.aaafta.com/forum/dish-poi...positions.html So, do a factory reset after each scan until you figure out that you have Nimiq 1 for sure. Maybe the dish you have setup as Nimiq 2 is actually pointed to Nimiq 1. Then, factory reset and you can easily figure out the second dish you are adding using this method. Now, after this is all done, you have to hook everything up and get them all working together. My suggestion is you find 2 Legacy Dual LNBs and replace those into the Dish 500, so you can simply get them all working off a DiSEqC switch. If you have a twin-eyed LNB on the Dish 500, you are going to have problems hooking them all up together. Once you figure this setup out, you will be ready for any setup !! Now, for key entry. The Key Menu shortcut, hit "8282" on the remote, like changing a channel, will bring up the Key Menu. Select Nagravision 2, and the cursor will be in the Provider ID Hit the Left Arrow Key, and the Provider ID will say 09 01, this is the BV key area for entering keys. I know it's not labeled good here, but this is where you enter key 00 make changes in Key Data and hit Ok to Store, you will see the OK Store on the screen blink red. Then go Left Arrow on Key Number to 01, Provider ID should say the same 09 01 and enter Key Data there and Ok to Store. Now you manually entered the BV keys. I'll give you some other tips and tricks for the Pansat 2700A at another time, I do not want to overwhelm you with them here. You'll be a pro at this in no time... Good Luck On All This !!

Re: Non Reception Pansat 2700A Nimiq 1 Nimiq 2
Thanx Woodcreeker...
They say great minds work alike... well concerning the first 3/4 of your post, I had already done all that... took a small TV, a compass, my Pansat, and a satellite to the roof and spent the better part of two days! My compass got hot and warped, so I went to the store and bought another... damn little thing cost me almost $30.00! And I am getting (and was getting) some Vu channels, just no reception at all. Anyway, your last paragraph concerning the BV key did the trick! I simply could not find where to enter it. I found 0901 (it was there all the time) but it wasn't just poorly labeled... it wasn't labeled at all... period. That is why I didn't mess with it. Right after I entered the BV key into 0901 all the channels came in! Again a big thanx to you for the absolute right answer! Reference your "I'll give you some other tips and tricks for the Pansat 2700A at another time...", I am ready now for all the tips you can muster. There are still some unanswered questions though: 1. Why don't the TP from a blindscan match what Lyngsat reports? Not even for the 7/8 satellites? 2. Why the SR of 19.999 when everything I read says it should be 20.000? 3. What box do I acquire to get past the tinkerers? Recommend one that will show the satellite name when I point to it; that will perform autoroll properly and be among the first to get boot software updated... thanx again, ken |

Re: Non Reception Pansat 2700A Nimiq 1 Nimiq 2
First answers to the above 3 numbered questions
1. Channels are being moved around all the time, and the data on the Lyngsat database has to be constantly updated, and, well, it is not always current. Notice on each TP a user's name is there on the right who probably submitted this data. Looks like it is dated, as a number like 061215 is December 15, 2006. 2. SR (Symbol Rate) is the like the baud rate data is transmitted, in tones per second. So 20.000 per second or 19.999 per second. The 2700A could be calculating this rate with a different programmed method which would account for the difference. Here is an old page to read all about symbol rates and other information is here: North American MPEG-2 Information 3. Receivers that have this feature which actually show you which satellite you have sighted in. I first noticed this on a Viewsat Platinum. It is also built into Viewsat Xtremes and Ultras and the Sonicview SV-4000. I am sure this is also included in all the newer Viewsats and Sonicviews as well. I am sure it is a common feature built into every new receiver, or it should be. Makes sighting in satellites a breeze.

Menu -> User Setup -> Renumbering Local CH
This is where you choose where your local channels are. Choose the state and nearest city. So, if NBC in your town is on channel 4, then selecting channel 4 will take you to that channel. Your locals are currently up in the 7000s to 8000s. Menu -> User Setup -> OSD setting On Screen Display for changing the popup opacity to your comfort level. I noticed you discovered the SAT button. The SAT button has nice features, selecting Echostar Package, a box will popup, simply select any channel there. This will renumber the channels to the proper DN order, including inserting the blank channels. Exit and then, hit the EPG button now to see this. Selecting Nimiq Package will do the same for BV. Notice you use this to switch from watching DN to BV as these providers use some of the same channel numbers. Hit the EPG button, then change channels. You will never lose the current EPG in memory. If you power off the unit with the remote, and turn it on again, you can download the 24 hour EPG (Electronic Programming Guide). If you simply change channels, like enter 200, the receiver loses the "older" EPG in memory, and reads in the latest 2 hour EPG. This will cause you to lose your 24 hr EPG you read in. If you change channels, it is best to use the EPG button first. You will never lose the 24 hour EPG in memory this way, if you downloaded it. Power off and on with remote, and exit will give you a 2 hr EPG read. You can hit the i button anywhere in the EPG highlighted area for program information. You can hit the i button anytime to see program information on the channel you are watching. If your remote ever quits working, hit the STB button. This is a universal remote and can control other devices. TV/RAD button to listen to sat radio. You can do the SAT button here to renumber channels. You may have to do the SAT -> Echostar Package to reorder TV channels again after going into the radio mode. Hope you find some of these tips and tricks useful !!
