Elliptical Dish Satellites
I am running an elliptical dish. I am tuned into 91 bev and 110 and 119 dish. I have a spare dish that I was gonna set up and see what else I could tune into. I have a viewsat ultra and I live in winnipeg manitoba canada. I was wondering if anyone out there has tried different satellites and if they would reccomend them. I was also wondering if I could get starchoice with the equipment that I have or if I needed something different?

Re: Elliptical Dish Satellites
All the available satellites you can get are on the Lyngsat website. Some satellites require a large dish and a linear LNB. Your elliptical dishes utilize circular LNBs. Your two dishes were designed for specific orbits, and will require some ingenuity to get them to point at other satellites. One set is 82W and 91W, using the 110w and 119w spacings. Notice they are both 9 degrees apart. You already have of the primary one of those two.
Lots of guys are replacing their LNB in the 119 spot with the CB2008A LNB to get Anik F3 118.8W along with Echo 7, just so you know. The CB2008A LNB can get the lower level 11.7GHz ~ 12.2GHz signals from that satellite, as well as the 12.2GHz ~ 12.7GHz signals from Echo 7. One idea they used to use was putting an LNB in 91 and an LNB in 110, which are 19 degrees apart, and tweaking these dishes for 129W and 148W, which are also 19 degrees apart. However, I believe DN stopped using 148W as of March 1st, so I do not know how many channels are being broadcasted from up there on 148W now. You can check this post for satellites and their settings linked below: http://www.aaafta.com/forum/dish-poi...-lnb-freq.html A post about the Lyngsat Website is also linked below for you to check out: http://www.aaafta.com/forum/faqs-gui...h-lyngsat.html You can probably use it for something, just check around Lyngsat and see if there is any programming you find you are interested in. As for the StarChoice, FTA 3rd party software has not attempted to break their encryption for testing. Have Fun !!

Re: Elliptical Dish Satellites
I have a 5 lnb dish and I can pick up 82w 91w 110w 119w and 129w. All come in very well. 129w is good for HD channels, if you have HD reciever.

Re: Elliptical Dish Satellites
if you want HD you will need to get 82 bird and that does not require 8psk for now and 129 bird and that does require 8psk for reception.
